Important Update: Changes to Turkish Airlines Ticket Refund Policy

Turkish Airlines

Istanbul, Turkey - April 22, 2024—According to an airline announcement today, Travelers flying with Turkish Airlines will soon face new fees associated with ticket refunds.

The changes, effective April 29, 2024, apply only to refundable tickets as defined by the fare rules at the time of purchase. Additionally, the reservation must be canceled before the flight's departure date to qualify for any refund.

Previously, passengers who canceled refundable tickets before their flight received a refund minus any applicable fees. Now, those who cancel refundable tickets but request a refund after the flight departs will be subject to an additional no-show fee on top of any existing refund charges.

"It's important for travelers to understand that these changes only apply to refundable tickets and that cancellations must still be made before the flight's departure date to be eligible for any refund," a spokesperson for Turkish Airlines said.

Note:

It’s mandatory that the Ticket has been originally issued as ‘Refundable’ in accordance with the Fare rule.
Reservation must be cancelled prior to the flight date.

Case 1 :

Reservation cancelled prior to the flight date and refund proceeded prior to the flight date:
  • Applicable refund charge has to be deducted ( if any ) and process accordingly.

 Case 2 :

Reservation cancelled prior to the flight date and refund proceeded after the flight date.
  • Applicable refund charge has to be deducted ( if any ), plus no-show charge must be deducted and proceed accordingly.

Passengers are advised to review the fare rules associated with their specific ticket for details on any applicable fees. They can visit the Turkish Airlines website or contact their customer service department for further information or questions.
