MARRIED SEGMENT LOGIC (MSL)
Emirates would like to inform its valued trade partners that Emirates reserves the right to cancel any booking at any given point of time if the Married segment logic (MSL) is violated regardless whether the booking is ticketed or not.
To reiterate please find below:
The purpose of the MSL is to extend Emirates inventory controls to connecting segments via the GDS Direct Connect Sell product.
Most airlines allocates seat inventory based on the passenger’s entire itinerary, Point of Sales and the revenue associated with the itinerary. When a flight is shown in an 'Availability Display', as part of a connection, the entire connection or travel option must be sold together. MSL is a mechanism to designate a “married unit” for online connection segments sold together.
Emirates have implemented MSL based on the following principles.
Misuse of Married Segment Logic
Over the past months Emirates has identified some misuse in order to circumnavigate the Married Segment Logic, and some incorrect booking procedures.
In the case of identified misuse and detection of violation, GDS will be notified through SSR/OTHS stating the OD violation which will be visible in the vendor remarks.
The Agency Debit Memo ( ADM) for violation of Emirates inventory per segment/per passenger will apply on all ticketed PNR’s identified as having committed an inventory violation.
In the event of consistent misuse of inventory or non-compliance with Emirates policy, the agent is liable to be blocked from accessing EK inventory.
