You can use the split function to rebook a separate itinerary for one or more passengers in the same PNR. In doing so, the System creates a new PNR with the new information. The original PNR is tagged as PARENT PNR and the new PNR is tagged as ASSOCIATE PNR.
Important : In order to avoid synchronisation issues contact the airlines first before performing a split.
A PNR is split:
- Automatically by the System as a result of a non-homogeneous condition when the PNR is created
- Manually by an agent
Split a single name element
To split one Name element, enter the transaction code SP followed by the Name element number. We will use this PNR example to illustrate:

- Automatically copied over all fields that were in the other PNR
- Elements that were passenger associated to the split names in the original PNR are transferred to the associate PNR

The System ends the transaction on the parent PNR and displays the record locators and the SP indicator.
Note: The record locators will not be displayed if you end the parent PNR with ER.
When you display a PNR that was manually split, the system appends the --- AXR --- tag to the PNR header.
After splitting a PNR, you can perform one or a combination of, the following transactions. You can perform these transactions before ending transaction on the associate PNR or the parent PNR.
Note: it is recommended that you end and file (EF) the associated PNR before making any changes to it.
The transactions you can perform are:

To add additional segments, such as air, car or hotel, you must complete the spit transaction and redisplay either the associate PNR or the parent PNR. Redisplay the PNR that you want to add.
Split Multiple Name Elements
If you need to split multiple Name elements, separate the Name element numbers by a comma (,) for multiple elements or a dash (-) for a range of name elements. For example:
SP1,3,5 or SP3-6 or SP1,3,5-8
Transfer and Retain Elements
When you split a PNR, elements associated to the names being split are transferred to the new PNR.
PNR elements without advice codes, status codes, and passenger association are normally duplicated to the split PNR. You can manually transfer elements or retain them in the original PNR.
To retain elements in the parent PNR, enter the element number followed by .0. To transfer the element to the associate PNR, enter the element number followed by .1. We will use this PNR example to illustrate:
